Vera Igorevna Zvonareva - The Russain Tennis ace
Vera Zvonareva, a Russian tennis ace, was born on September 7, 1984 in the city of Moscow. She started playing tennis at the age of six only. Vera turned pro back in 2000. Currently, the Russian ace is listed at number 21 in the world rankings. Her career top most ranking in singles is number five spot in the world.
Zvonareva has succeeded in a total of eight single Women Tennis Association tours, four WTA titles in doubles as well as two single titles in the International Tennis Federation singles championship.
During the initial years of her professional tennis career, the Russian tennis sensation was famous for her delicate attire, mostly falling down in tears while playing on the tennis courts. Born to Nataliya Zvonareva and Igor Zvonarev, Vera’s mother pushed her to play tennis at a very small age in spite of the fact that her parents were inclined towards hockey rather than any other sport.
Vera started contesting in the circuit of International Tennis Federation in the year 1999. The Russian tennis sensation succeeded in a total of three qualifying games and thus made her way into the main draw where she fell down in the round number one. However, the following year, Vera triumphed in an ITF championship which was held in Russia in the city of Moscow without losing a single set despite being unranked. It was the second major tournament of her international tennis career. After a period of five years, the Russian finally made her debut in the Women Tennis Association at the Tier 1 championship in Moscow and defeated Elena Bovina who was ranked number 148 in the world. However, Vera later on lost to Anna Kournikova in the second round who was listed number 11 in the world’s ranking. In 2001, although she did not qualify for the WTA championship in Florida as well as Moscow, but managed to reach the semi final match of the ITF circuit championship held in Italy.
