I purchased a Verbatim 250GB external hard disk (ver 96528 ) recently to use transferring data between work and home. It came preformatted for my mac, however I reformatted the disk to Fat32 because I use a PC running Windows XP Professional at work. The drive works fine on my home computer, all the files are in place, awesome, and connects both with the USB and FireWire cables. However, on the work computer, the FireWire connection doesn't work AT ALL, and the USB connection gives me an alert saying new hardware is connected but the drive never shows up in my "My Computer" window. I can eject the drive, but I cannot open it anywhere on the computer. It has given this same response on 3 seperate PCs, however on 2 different Macs the drive works fine.Is there a driver I need? The manual said the drivers should all be pre-installed on the drive. And the Verbatim website is incredibly unhelpful, their support people are unreachable. Help?
