Vergil expansion announced for upcoming DMC: Devil May Cry
With two months still left for the Devil May Cry reboot to hit the market, Capcom has announced its downloadable content (DLC).
The expansion titled “Vergil’s Downfall” will follow shortly after the release of DMC: Devil May Cry and will charge players $9 on both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
Players who pre-order the upcoming title in the Devil May Cry series at GameStop in America and EB Games in Canada will not have to pay anything extra for the additional content.
While the original campaign will revolve around the main protagonist Dante, the DLC will allow players to step into the shoes of his twin brother Vergil to experience his side of the story and its link with the original plot.
Vergil will have unique weapons, moves and combos in his arsenal to lay seemingly countless enemies to waste. Some of these enemies will be the same as the ones featured in Dante’s campaign, while some of the foes are going to be unique, though not any less
formidable.
Making his first appearance in Devil May Cry 3, Dante’s twin brother gained immense popularity among the fans.
Taking notice of this popularity, publisher Capcom released a special edition of the game to let players take control of Vergil.
While remaining notably absent from the fourth Devil May Cry game, Capcom only waited a short while after announcing DMC: Devil May Cry at the Tokyo Game Show in 2010 to confirm that Vergil would be featured in the latest game.
This led to a series of speculations, which included Vergil being a playable character.
With Capcom announcing “Vergil’s Downfall” DLC a few days back, the rumours turn out to be true.
The upcoming DMC: Devil May Cry is being developed by Ninja Theory, which has described the game as a reboot of the series.
Giving a completely new look to Dante and the setting in which the action takes place, the studio has added a few additional features, the most notable of which is the inclusion of a scythe and axe in the main protagonist’s arsenal.
DMC: Devil May Cry is slated for a January 15 release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the PC version to follow on a later date.
