Ok so i was wondering if anyone who has either of these phones (world or curve) would help me out..

i have the Verizon chocolate phone and i need to get a new phone soon so i was thinking about getting the blackberry world.. It says it works basically anywhere and im wondering to what extent this is true.. im going to europe this summer and i was wondering, by buying this phone it will work there just like it works in the US? Also will i be able to use all components of the phone including the texing and the internet from Europe? And i heard you pay an extra $30 dollars a month for somthing, what is that for exactly? And is there anything thats bad about the blackberry world, is it better or worse than the curve and what are the differences? ok so any info on this would be great, thanks!

  1. Are you referring to the Blackberry 8830 World Edition?

In reality, any Blackberry will work overseas, not just the 8830. I was just in Europe this past month, and my Curve worked perfectly. However, be aware that there will be roaming charges as AT&T does not operate in Europe...be prepared to pay around $0.99 a minute, and $.02 a KB for data, which REALLY racks up. This is Carrier specific, and seeing I have AT&T i really can't help you on how much it will cost you..but it will cost a lot if you use Data (email, internet...). Call Verizon for details.

As far as the 8830 vs. Curve, I would SOOO go for the Curve. The 8830 and the Curve are basically the same device, except the Curve has a built-in Camera, and GPS. Granted, the 8830 has GPS, but it is locked by Verizon for an unknown reason.

With the new OS for the Blackberry Curve on its way, you will also have the option to record video! The 8830 was designed for Corporate Environments in which a camera is not an option on a phone. The Blackberry Curve uses the same OS, but offers the Camera and GPS without limitations. Granted, if you are a business exec. where you can use a Camera Phone at work, by all means, get the 8830.

But if you're like me, and use your phone for work and for social events....get the Curve. You wont' regret it!
