Verizon Cable Split?

Question

I just moved in with two of my friends and they both have verizon cable box in their rooms.. about three days ago I split their internet wire going to the modem box to my tv and it worked for only about 3 days..then today when I put the tv on I was receiving a fios message across the screen saying that I need to call verizon for a box..anyway my room called verizon today to order another box ..for the mean time is their a way to by pass that fios message and continue watching basic tv ?

You can hookup a coaxial cable not coming from the FIOS source, but if you are not subscribed to any other company, you will only get local channels.

Verizon has gone all digital.  If you do not have a digital TV that is why you are getting that message.  Your TV isn't converting the digital signal to analog.
