Verizon DSL Upgrade Question?

I have a DSL that goes 768 kbps and i wanted to upgrade to a faster connection that will do up to 3 mbps. The d**n verizon never told me anything, but if i upgrade do i keep my old modem, or will they give me a new one, and how long will it take for them to upgrade my speed?

The old modem (unless it's REALLY old) is probably at least a 25mbps modem, so it's just an office change.  How long?  That's one of the reasons I don't use Verizon.  Maybe a day.  Maybe 2 weeks.  (You won't lose the internet - you'll just be on the current speed until your work order works its way to the top of the pile.)

    They may actually send you a new modem (with a return label, so the return is free for you), but your current modem is probably fast enough.  (The little black one?  then it is.)  And you can probably get a wireless modem at no charge with 3mbps service - just ask.  You can still plug the computer into it but, if you want to go wireless later, you use the same modem.

    (Or find a provider that has real tech *support*.)
