Question:

Verizon DSL activation?

I do not have landline phone service, and Verizon is trying to activate DSL service. My apartment already has a phone jack.

In order to have DSL service activated, does a Verizon technician need to come into my apartment? Or, just phone room located in the basement? I live in an apartment building in New York City.

The initial activation date was 5/1. He came to the building, but I was told he was denied access. I thought he could not get to the basement, so when I scheduled to have him come again on 5/7, I told my landlord and super to give him access.

But again, the service was not activated yesterday because he was denied access. I am clueless. I asked Verizon whether he could not go to the basement or enter my apartment because no one was at home, but they had no idea...

Anyone in the similar situation, did a technician come into your apartment?

Thank you.

  1. He/She may need to get to terminal in basement to connect your apt. to Verizon cable pair. If your apt. line has not been tagged, there is no way for the tech to know which line goes to your apt. Therefore, access is needed to tone your apt. line to the cable terminal.

  2. NOPE.. i previously used verizon and they didnt need to come into my house.. neither did my coworker when he got it activated..  i then switched to earthlink and they didnt need to come in.. but then again.. i have phone service... so i dont know about your situation..
