Hi, I want to know something. Currently I have a Computer, it's Windows XP, It's 5 years old and thinking of buying a brand new computer. But I remembered when I ordered FIOS, they asked me what kind of computer I have, XP or Vista? I said XP. Well the new computers are Vista so am I going to call Verizon FIOS to come to my house and Install the router to my new computer thats not XP anymore? Or I can do it myself?

  1. It depends if you have experiance in installing a router. Because Verison FIOS is just a provider of Internet at fiber optic speed. Windows Xp or Vista will both accept the internet connection the same way.

Also, in order to install a router or modem, first connect the cat 5 line from your modem to your new router, then in your new router should have a second t 5 line, that will connect to your computer

  2. The reason that you were asked that is that FIOS does not work on anything "98" and below and is not supported by the Verizon systems.  You need no experience on installing anything as that is the union techs job to do.  We install it for you and show you how to use the new programming, we also set up you new master e-mail account and show you how to set up additional accounts.
