Question:

Verizon FIOS router problem

well my family just got back from vacation today to fund out that our router isn't working like it used to. All the things that hook up to the network ( laptops, xbox 360, iPod touch ) all work fine and connect to the network. The computer that the router is plugged into is not working however. I checked the device manager on the computer and saw that the router is not listed as part of the hardware, even though the adapter is plugged into the Ethernet cable, where it has been. Should I switch the Ethernet cables? Anyone have an idea what to do? Any help is appreciated

  1. Two thing to try.

    1)  Pull the power cord out of the back of the router for 60-90 seconds.  Plug it back in and let it recycle.  You will know it is all set when the lights stop flashing.

    If this doesn't work,

    2) Using an open paperclip find the reset button on the back of the router and push it for 60-90 seconds and repeat the steps above. If you do this option just know that the router will reset to the original factory settings.  So if you changed the user name/password or any other settings you will also need to change them back to what you want.

If neither of these work you will have to call Verizon Customer Support.  They will be able to "see" you router from the office, and do other test.  If need be they will send you a new one.
