i have 2 computers, 1 thats connected to my router (wrt160n) and then i have a computer 1 floor above that has a wireless g usb adapter. sometimes when i browse for a long time on the internet my internet starts to slow down and i do a speedtest and i get 800kbps down and 200kbps up. im suppose to be getting 3mbps down and 758kbps up. so then i have to go down to the computer with the router and run a speedtest on that, and then then i go upstairs on the wireless computer and run a speedtest and then the speed is 3mbps down. how come this keeps slowing down? is it cause of my ISP? (Verizon DSL) or is it my router and wireless usb adapter? (their both linksys by the way)

  1. If the computer downstairs is getting good speeds, and only the computer connected via wireless is getting the slow speeds, than the problem is your wireless.

You are getting interference from something.  Could be a microwave, a cordless phone, or another wireless network that's nearby.  Try changing channels and see if that solves the problem.

  2. There is a nice article on wireless networking "How To Boost WiFi Signal to Speed up networking" in the following link.Have a look on that. It may help you.
