Verizon employees I need help with this?

my boyfriend works for verizon as a field technician. His schedule is 8am to 4 pm but he gets home around 12pm or 1pm every day. He told me when verizon has no work the field techs can go home early but they still get paid for the day. He makes 30 dollars per hour. I dont believe that verizon will pay people for a full days work if they only work 4 or 5 hours a day. This has been going on since we started dated- 5 years ago. He has been working there for 12 years. Is this possible? Do these employees get paid for the whole day if they only work a few hours/

He is yanking your chain. Verizon DOES NOT send people home w/ pay for any reason except for 1/2 day Christmas Eve. There is so much work out there now with FIOS being installed that there is forced OT. He probably has been fired and just doesn't want to tell you. Have you actually seen a pay stub or his ID? Verizon also does not employ part-time employees, so don't let him tell you that if you confront him. Sorry to drop the bomb on you.
