hi, i want to switch my home phone service to T mobile's@home service. They said i see to contact Verizon and get something called a "dry loop" service cause i also have verizon DSL which i want to keep. They also said to tell them i want to keep my phone #. After that i just need to pickup the router at tmobile and they will do the rest. Does anyone have this service or know if this is the proper way to set it up? Thanx

  1. Dry loop usually refers to having copper (wires) from the telco without phone service.  When used in reference to DSL, its meant that you have DSL without having a "real" phone line (you won't hear dialtone if you hook a phone to it).

"Dry DSL" or "Naked DSL" should be offered by your telco (verizon).

Since your current DSL is "tied" to your phone line they most likely will try to tell you that you have to disconnect it and re-order it.  This is not true (although they may not know how to set it up in their billing without doing so).  This is not a technical issue but rather a political issue within the telco.
