Arsenal’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002 has admitted that he is quite disappointed with the way the Gunners performed against Schalke, as he feels the team could have done a whole lot better.
The North London club went into the game after a shock loss to Norwich, which is why everyone assumed the team would hold nothing back to come out on top in the game.
However, following goals scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 went on to lose the game by two goals to nil, as they dropped all three points in the game.
What makes the matter even worse, is the fact that the match saw Arsenal lose their first home game in Europe since 2003.
The performance from the team was so poor, that they failed to shoot on target until the 93rd minute of the game.
Vermaelen still isn’t sure just what went wrong, but hopes for the team to be able to come back stronger in their next game.
“It's difficult to explain"
"I think we gave 100 per cent, everybody, but it's a little bit difficult at the moment. We don't create enough chances to score goals, and we conceded two today so we lost."

"We lost on Saturday, we wanted to do better today. We couldn't create chances on Saturday and did the same today."

However, the defender feels that teams now take on Arsenal with a defensive approach, which tends to frustrate the team.

He continued: "Teams come here against us with strong organisation all the time. They know we have technical ability and come with a defensive shape all of the time. Sometimes it’s difficult to get through that."
Nonetheless, the centre back is hoping that a lot of consistent hard work is going to be able to help the team out in the future, considering the fact that the team needs to come out with all guns blazing, or things could get even worse for the team from here on.
He added: "You know these moments are difficult but we have to work hard every day. If we work hard then in the end it will be okay."
At the moment, no one is quite sure what or how the North London club is going to bounce back from these two rather disappointing results. However, with all the players now looking to prove a point, things could get a lot more interesting for the club and its fans.
