Arsenal’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 is set to end all the speculations regarding his future, as he might go on and put pen to paper on a new contract in the near future.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international is going to be without a contract next summer, and with him failing to agree to terms of a new contract, it is a wonder as to what he is going to be doing in the future.
With the likes of Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 being linked with a move for the player, many feel that he might just end up walking away should either of those teams actually approach the player.
However, Vermaelen feels that Walcott is bound to sign on for the Gunners, considering how well he has played for the team in the past, but he also revealed that he doesn’t know a whole lot about exactly what is going on behind the scenes.
“Of course we want him to stay but that is something that is going on between the player and the club,” Vermaelen told reporters.
“I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes — we don’t talk about it. Of course, Theo has been invaluable for us when he played this year. He is dangerous for us and I hope he could stay this year.”
He then compared the situation with that of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380’s, who now plays for Manchester United, and added that it will be down to the club and the player to decide just what to do.
“[We don’t talk about it] because that is going on in football all the time. It happened last time with Robin [van Persie] in the summer. It’s the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 of the board and the club what they are going to do with it so we can’t do anything about it.”
Arsene Wenger and the Gunners board now have a couple of days to try and wrap up a deal with the player, or they can consider selling him the winter transfer window, in order for them to benefit as much of off his sale as they can, should he fail to sign
a new contract with the club.
