Arsenal’s centre back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002 has gone on to commit his future to the club and is set to see out the rest of his career at the Emirates.
With a lot of speculation floating about, which claimed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 was set to leave the club, Vermaelen went on to reveal just where his loyalties lay, as he insisted he was more than likely going to retire as a Gunner.
The Belgian international went on to make the move to Arsenal from Ajax in 2009. Since then, the player has gone on to improve tremendously and is currently the vice captain of the team.
It seems like Vermaelen went on to make these comments, in order to give the club’s fans something to cheer about, considering the fact that there is still a lot of doubt over whether Van Persie will stick around or not.
When talking about his future and the dedication and love that he has for the Gunners, the Belgian international is quoted to have said: "I will stay at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 forever. There will be no transfer for me"
"I love London. I've got a house there, I'm happy there and I don't see any reason to ever leave the club."
This past season, Vermaelen couldn’t play as much football as he would have hoped for. The defender picked up an injury, which ruled him out for a couple of months. However, with him making his return near the end of the season, the team got a much needed
boost, which helped them go on and finish the season in the third spot.
Vermaelen has almost always been consistent for the Gunners and he has also been one of the highest scoring defenders in Europe.
His contributions to the team have been immensely useful and helpful and now that he is set to stay for an extended period of time, he can only improve from here on out.
Nonetheless, should Van Persie end up deciding that he wants to leave Arsenal, then it wouldn’t be surprising to see Vermaelen go on and get promoted to being the new captain of the North London club.
