The story goes like this, Veronica was a holy women who during the Passion of Christ, accompanied Jesus to Calvary, offered him a towel/cloth/her veil to wipe His forehead on which He left the imprint of His face. It is believed this cloth has healing powers. Veronica was summoned to Rome by Emperor Tiberius, whom she cures by making him touch the sacred image.

There is an image (could be the original or copy of Veronica's veil) that is held in St Peter's Basilica in Rome and displayed each year on the 5th Sunday of Lent (Passion Sunday)

She gave a towel to Jesus as he carried the cross to Calvary.  It was supposed to carry his image on it.

later in England a maid was called a veronica.  she handed things to people, I guess.

Veronica wiped the sweat off the face of Jesus while he was in route to Calvary.  The veil has miraculous properties.  Where is it now I would like to know?
