Vertical jump question?

I was just wondering if this was true my basketball coach said that your vertical jump is dramatically effected by your abs is this true the stronger the abs the higher the vertical leap?

  1. I'd say that it has a little affect of your abilty to jump, it would probably be yuor upper legs or lower legs tho . But i aint the Athletic Coach


  2. not that i know of  . . . i dont see hoe using ur abs (which would mean tightening ur stomach) would increase how much distance is covered from the ground up

  3. Yes, all your muscles play a part in your vertical leap, if you want to increase your jump make sure your work on your fast twitch muscles and do some exercises like cleans or something, good luck.

  4. He's rite and wrong they do a little but not as much as your legs. But mostly your quads and calves is what need work.

  5. Psh, I doubt it, If you have Ever watched and one Basketball, There is a big guy thats chunky and he can dunk the ball.  By looking at him you dont think he can. But once you see him in the game he can throw it DOWN!  If you wanna look him up I think his name is Escalade  or something like that.  But he doesn't have abs....So jumping really comes from the legs.
