Jan Vertonghen, who joined the club from Dutch champions Ajax in the summer, insists that they need to be more consistent and keep their momentum maintained throughout the 90 minutes in every game. Speaking to reporters, the player said:

The player also defended his defensive partner and captain, William Gallas, who had visibly struggled in the game.
“William is our captain and an important player. He always wants the best for me, even though we are both centre-backs. I really appreciate him,” he concluded.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas also spoke about the disappointing game, and said:
“Everyone is disappointed because we had a good chance of bringing Chelsea down, but we failed to do so, but we have 30 more games ahead of us and have to be focused now. We have to bounce back from adversity and improve our results again.”
