Tottenham Hotspur player and summer signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 was delighted by last night’s 0-4 victory over Aston Villa and was more happy with returning to his favoured central-defensive position in the Spurs back-four.
The Belgian defender has been deployed at left-back for the injured Benoit Assou-Ekotto, but returned to his favoured position as a centre-half last night as youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Naughton-c21563 was played at left-back.
With Assou-Ekotto nearing fitness, Vertonghen is looking forward to returning to playing as a centre-half more regularly.
The player has been one of the most impressive imports from the Dutch Eredivisie this season, and has been in fine form for Tottenham Hotspur. The Belgian centre-half made his move to White Hart Lane from reigning Dutch champions Ajax, and has immediately
settled into life in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
The player is a central defender by nature, but has also been equally impressive as a full-back for Tottenham, especially in the 2-3 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Vertonghen was heavily involved in last night’s 0-4 win over Aston Villa last night, and was glad to have returned to his regular spot in central defence for Tottenham.
The visitors had scored 4 goals, with star winger Gareth Bale picking up his first ever Premier League hat-trick by scoring it in the second half.
Speaking before the game, Vertonghen had highlighted the significance of playing in his natural position and why it would be good for the team. With Assou-Ekotto days away from first team action, Vertonghen said that he could not wait to be back in the centre
and help Tottenham get more results. He said:
“For the team it is best that I play as a centre-back. I liked to bring the ball out. When teams drop in and you need to move the game quickly, that is one of my qualities as well. The manager knows I prefer centre back but that is enough for me. He respects
me but tells me whenever I need to play left-back."
In other news, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 was delighted by his hat-trick and said on the club’s official Twitter account:
“Great to score goals and my first hat-trick in the Premier League but important to get the 3 points. All the lads worked hard and now we look to the Sunderland game."
