Ajax’s defender, Vertonghen is set to choose to make a move to Tottenham Hotspur, as opposed to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
It is believed that Tottenham have managed to edge past Arsenal, as they look to secure the transfer of Vertonghen.
The defender was being pursued by both the teams from London, but in the end, the defender ended up deciding to move to the White Hart Lane as opposed to the Emirates.
Many believe that the playing time that the defender would get at Tottenham would be far greater than the one he would get at Arsenal. As a result, the player decided that it was wiser to move somewhere, where he could play more frequently.
The player is reported to have said: “Tottenham are absolutely my favourite"
“Tottenham is a fantastic football club that has the tradition I want. They buy young, eager, offensive-minded players.”
“[But] the Ajax board are asking for a very big amount for a player whose contract is running out in year. I trust that both Tottenham and Ajax will put some water in the wine and they will soon reach an agreement.”
The Belgian international then went on to admit that he would like to have his transfer wrapped up as early as possible, since he wants to avoid moving to the team on the last few days of the transfer window, since it wouldn’t give him enough time to blend in and practice with the team.
“I hope that this awareness is there, because a transfer lingering for weeks like Maarten Stekelenburg's [to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603] seems very harsh.
“He joined at the end of Roma's preparation [for the new season]. I want to be able to blend in with the other players at Spurs from the start [of pre-season training].”
At the moment, the information about the transfer and the quotes released by the player haven’t been officially confirmed by either club, but the way things are shaping up, the defender’s move is more than likely to be made public in a couple of days.
It is now a wait to see just how the defender would fit in at the club.
