  1. X+Y= 180°

    X= Y+24°

    Y+24°+Y= 180° ---Substitute Y+20° for X.

    2Y+24°= 180° ---Simplify.

    2Y= 156° ---Subtract 24° from both sides.

    Y= 78° ---Divide both sides by 2.

    X+Y= 180°

    X+78°= 180° ---Substitute 78° for Y.

    X= 102° ---Subtract 78° from both sides.

  2. x=y+24

    y +(x) =180

    y+ (y+24) =180

    2y +24=180

    2y =156

    y =78º

    x=78+24 =102º
