Very Serious Legal Situation?

Okay, let me cut right to the chase, because no one likes wasting time.

This guy is disputing me on PayPal over an eBay transaction we had. He texted me last night saying that AmEx already refunded his money. I hope I can do something with this information.

The question, is if I tell PayPal this, will they give him his money back based on the cache that AmEx has and the fact they've already found it to be in his favour, or will they decide in my favour because he's already gotten a refund from his credit card?

Which holds higher position as far as American Law is concerned? PayPal is located in Mountain View, California.

Is there something else I do not see?

I would call customer service and talk to them.

If you dispute a bill with your credit card, they take the charge off your account and bill it back to the seller, then the seller has to dispute it back that it was a legit charge.  The fact that it has been taken off his account does NOT mean tha Amex has found in his favor.

You don't give enough info about the problem for anyone to have an opinion or to give much advice.
