Well, recently I had an eye exam, and my doctor gave me my new prescription, then she told me to go pick out the frames I wanted and that they should be done in about a week.I told her that I wanted them to help block the sun from my eyes so, I asked her how much it would cost to make them transition lenses. She said that for clear ones it would cost 82.00 and for them to actually transition colors it would be 162.00 (this is additional to the frames). So this is where I am confused,if they were clear like she said then wouldnt they just be normal glasses ?

Could someone please explain?

And why is there such a big price jump in between?

Thanks in Advance

  1. By  clear, she meant without a tint...without transitions....but still with your prescription of course.

The big jump in price is because Transitions are more expensive...but 162.00 for single vision lenses sounds excessive.

Ask for your prescription and shop around, you don't have to buy them at the optometrists office...they are always more expensive than most optical stores would be.
