Hey guys. Well to start off I'm 13, haven't started my period, and not sexually active. Well anyway, I've noticed a lot of discharge (had it since the end of 5th grade and have it at beginning of 8th) but i just noticed this foul sour odor and I'm worried. A couple of months ago I thought I had a yeast infection because it was itching like crazy but no odor so i left it alone (my mom didn't think it was yeast infection and tried doing medicine for it but nothing happened so....) and now this sour odor mixed with a smell of BO in my armpits...it's scaring me...What could it be?

Thank you:)

  1. That, my friend, is the smell of puberty.

Ahah, don't worry, nothing is "wrong". You are just maturing. You haven't had your period yet, so it may be starting soon. I wouldn't worry, just remember to use a rag and clean down there everytime that you take a shower. You needa stay fresh, perhaps you are just smelling it because you haven't been washing 100 percent thoroughly.

  2. Haha don't worry! Once girls are close to getting their period, your armpits WILL make a scent and discharge is nothing to worry about, as long as it doesn't sting. I had discharge for about 3 years before I got my period so you're okay. Tell your mom immediantely when you get your period though. Even if it could be embarrassing, it's better for her to give you the right things. Good luck, God bless.

  3. A yeast infection can make you itchy and irritated.  You would also have a thick, white, cottage cheese like discharge.

You may have a bacterial infection.  It does have a strong, sometimes fishy odor to it.  This has to be treated with antibiotics so you would need to see your doctor about that.

Wash very well in the shower with a wash cloth and some Dove soap or any gentle soap and make sure you wash everything good.  Don't scrub very hard but just get yourself really clean.

If you still have the odor talk to your mom.  You should consider seeing your doctor.  Bacterial infections are very common in women, easy to treat, and you don't have to be sexually active to get one.

Antibiotics, douching, and sexual intercourse can cause them because they disrupt the levels of good bacteria in the v****a.  Just some general info.

    Talk to your mom okay?

  4. Just make sure you clean down there.

You can get NON FRAGRANCE soap, like the kind you may use for a new piercing,

    perhaps dial.

Use a bit of warm water and do it every time you shower.

Make sure not to get soap IN there.

Also, always wipe front to back, as if you wipe back to front, your getting bacteria all in there

    NOT NICE (;

    Don't ever use a douche!

But still, go to your gynecologist because they can make sure nothing is going on

    Best of luck!!!

    [Hope this helped!]

  5. i'm 19.

and i was too embarrassed to go to a doctor or ask any of my friends when this happened to me in about 6th grade. so i went to planned parenthood. it's perfectly natural. the cause is, the v****a is a self cleaning organ so basically all that vaginal discharge is the remains of your v****a cleaning. it smells gross and it can itch.  but if it's not clotty like cottage cheese or turning a greenish color, or if it burns when you urinate you are completely fine!

  6. have a doctor check on that

  7. Sounds like a bacterial infection......I would go consult with your doctor, it might be awkward but trust me....you should always get unusual things checked out. Better safe than sorry, and you can never be too careful with your health.

  8. Have you gone to the doctor to get it checked out, I have never heard of it just being a smell and that is it, there is a disease, it's called halitosis but I think that it only has to do with bad breath and it causes the person to have a very bad odor that they can't get rid of

  9. i went through that too on and off therough puberty about 6 months before i started!

  10. If your that worried, have it checked out by your family doctor.
