Very faint line on hpt?

i'm 12dpo (know because of checking EWCM - so it's not so accurate).

this morning i tested, and since i had no courage to look my DH waited for the result. immediately it showed a negative. he called me, i looked at it and seeing it a negative put it away in the box...and went doing other things. didn't wait 5 minutes to see the result - i just assumed it was a negative.

about 3/4 hrs later i re-opened the test, and i saw a very faint 2nd line indicating pregnancy. but it was after 10 minutes and the box says that you shouldn't read the result after 10 minutes. What do you think?

i still have the hpt from my first pregnancy (5 yrs ago) and both lines are still very visible. so why do the box says not to read results after 10 mins?

hlp...am i pregnant?

  1. It could be an evap line, I know it's hard to wait but I would retest again in the morning with fmu.

  2. I would wait and take another test first thing in the morning. Good luck!

  3. After ten minutes the results are no good. Almost all pregnancy tests get a faint line after it dries out, it's where your pee evaporates and make the line show up.

  4. that's rule number one on hpts, never even look after ten minutes... hard, i know..

test again in the morning with first morning urine, but don't look after ten minutes or you might see an evaporation line.

here is a great site with htp pics and lots of great ladies trying to conceive  http://www.twoweekwait.com

    good luck, i'm ttc too.

  5. If you wiated that long it could just mean the strpi that has chemicals on it got wet enough to show up and your not actually pregnant. However when I took my first test the line was really light and I was stull pregnant. The first test I used was the First Response one in the pink box. I did both tests and they looked the same, theres two in a box, and they were both really light. Then I went out and bought a box of two EPT tests and tried those the next day first thing in the morning. They were both positive and really showed. You might want to try a different test, or wait a week or two before you test again.

  6. You can't trust the results more than 10 minutes after you take the test.  So, no, you don't have a positive result.

Wait and test again when you miss your period.
