Very heavy period all of a sudden?

I'm no longer on birth control and I'm not allowed to go birth control ever again because I have a very weak heart. Within the past month Ive gotten my period 3 times and I only get about a week off in between each period. I bleed very heavy when I get it. I just went to my gyno on Friday and he said that I can't really do anything except deal with it. Does anyone know what else I can do? I like my doctor a lot and he has helped me with other problems I was having so I don't want to leave him.

  1. Girl, you're going to become anemic and weak. Stay away from NSAIDS, like aspirin or ibuprofen, they make you bleed heavier. You might even have a thyroid problem, was this ever checked? They usually use b.c.p.'s to regulate periods like yours, yikes, I don't know what to tell you, other than a hysterectomy. Losing all this blood isn't helping your heart either, it has to pump harder to push less blood around.
