Very important question about CO (Carbon Monoxide)

Ok, so last night, we were all evacuated out of my building because there was carbon monoxide throughout the whole building. After they cleared everything, we all went back inside. When I was getting ready for bed, I was so nervous to fall asleep and scared :( My question is, how do they get rid of CO? What is the process..what do they use? And how in the world does CO escape, especially in a building? Your answers are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

  1. All they do is air out the building...usually with fans.  The fresh air pushes the CO out.  They tested it before they let you back in, I'm sure.

However, you should go out NOW and buy an inexpensive CO detector at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Wal-Mart.  This is more important than a fire alarm, as more people by far die from CO poisoning each year than from fire.
