  1. They have these little mattress like things that positon the baby on their side so that they don't rollover to either side.

  2. Health care providers tend to say babies should be put on their backs...Being a mother to four though I disagree.  If a baby aspirates (or vomits) he or she is prone to choking if they are on their backs.  I also had my kiddos on their sides-usually with rolled up towels on either side to ensure they do not turn over.  They also make little supports for babies so they do not roll over.  Here is a link to Babies R Us.  The pillow works great and is reasonably priced.

    Hope that helps!

  3. You're suppose to lay a baby on its back.  You can slightly incline the mattress to avoid regurgitation, but it is no longer recommended to lay a baby on their stomach due to the risk of SIDS.

  4. Babies should always be placed on their back to sleep.  If you are concerned about spitting up you can try something like this:

If you are worried about the baby rolling over, you can try something like this:

This is also a good product to use if you do use the crib incline pad with younger babies, as it keeps them in a one position.  Babies typically don't begin rolling over until they are atleast 4 months.  Once they can roll over on their own it is okay for them to sleep on their stomachs.

  5. if the baby(s) are having an issue with spitting up their parents should speak with the pedi since aspiration from back sleeping can be an issue.  The doctor may recommend using a sleep positioner to turn the baby slightly on their side.

  6. Backs only!  "Back to sleep" is the current thinking with SIDS worries.

    Congrats!

  7. Babies should be put to sleep on their backs. Some babies, even at this young age, will roll over on to their sides. This is OK, too, but they should never be put down on their tummies. Congrats on becoming an aunt!

  8. Mine had serious reflux and almost choked once for being on his back.  Since then we put him to sleep slightly on his side but almost with the positioning wedges and always with a tilted mattress.

  9. Very cute!!!  Lay them on their backs.

  10. backs.

  11. Aww they're cute! :)

When they're this little, it's best to lay them down on their backs. Is there a reason you want to put them on their side?

  12. My baby preferred to be swaddled and on his side, but we put him in one of the wedge type things so he couldn't roll over on his own.  I thought it would be better for any night spit up as well, which did happen a few times, it just ran down his cheek.  Not sure what would have happened if he spit up while on his back, but since that is the most common way i'm sure he would have been fine.

Look into buying the wedge, they are great !!

  13. its ok to lay them on their side, just put blankets or something around them so they cant roll onto their stomache. they even make a special pillow thing for this but i never used one.

  14. Very cute babies! Lay them on their backs to prevent SIDS.

  15. How cute they are! Lay them on their backs to sleep. Less chance of them suffocating this way.
