Eating in a walk in restaurant---resort area---nothing fancy---except the prices are outrageous---receiving the meal it is less than acceptable for the money asked for on the menu. do you return the meal and request a fair and equitable portion or do you just eat it and pay the bill?

  1. Unless there was something obviously wrong, like getting an 8oz steak when you ordered a 16oz steak, I would not send the food back, just eat, pay and not return.

That being said, many people have grown accustomed to very large restaurant portions and feel cheated when presented with a sensible size portion.

  2. A good indicator is to look at the wine list.  If they are charging a per bottle price for a 8 oz. glass it is probably a good indication that you should pass on the meal as well.

  3. I would return it but would not want any food returned.  I would just tell them to keep it and feed it to some bird. I would finish my glass of wine.  Leave the money I owe for the drink plus the tip on the table and leave.  Love, honey

  4. Eat it and pay the bill.  Lesson learned if you're not satisfied. . . don't eat there anymore.

  5. Call the server over, ask if there was a mistake (even if you know it's not), and take it from there. When he/she asks what's wrong, tell them the truth. I'm a  waitress, and it's happend to me once or twice. If I can, I'll offer more food, if it's something I can't, then I'll ask them if they want it, and if not, I don't charge them. Why pay for a meal that you don't like?

I have been to places where there isn't a lot, and I cough it up not to go there again.

But it doesn't hurt to say something to the waitress. They are there to make you happy and for repeat business.

  6. Hmmm, good question.

I'd probably send my waiter back with it. Then I'd probably leave. I'm not too keen on swapping spit (or any other bodily fluid) with a stranger.
