Very severe genital herpes outbreak?

im having my first genital herpes outbreak and im in A LOT of pain..I have swollen to almost 4 times the normal size of 'down there' and have around 20 sores around my v****a and bum. I can barely move, let alone walk. I am on valtrex and am taking panadine (over the counter pain relief) but nothing seems to work and its just getting worse and worse, ive had symptoms for about five days now and am desperate to get relief. although i am taking sleeping pills i still wake up 1-2 hours after sleeping in pain and cant get back to sleep. I have around 2 salt water baths a day and dry myself with a hairdryer. is there anything i can do to make this pain stop, i pretty much burst into tears every time i move. is it possible to get stronger pain meds from a doctor for herpes?

Try to insert ice cubes into you v****a and r****m.  I know it sounds weird...but it works.  Just lay in bed on a couple of towels, it will help.  Don't sleep with underwear on, this will give them a chance to breath and hopefully dry out faster.  Ask your doctor for a script for lidocaine.  Lidocaine will numb it.  I don't believe any OTC pain reliever is strong enough.  Cut aspartame out of your diet.  It is a HUGE trigger.  It can trigger an outbreak in minutes and prolong outbreaks for months.  Aspartame is an artificial sweetener found in diet soda, gum and sugar free foods and beverages.

P.S.  I don't know how much Valtrex you are taking.  You need to be taking 2-500 mg a day for primary.

You need to go back to your Dr. You are obviously having a beyond severe outbreak and the Valtrex isn't working yet. The pain has to be unbearable, so you need to seek other methods of treatment to help alleviate the pain.

Sounds to me like there might be more than just genital herpes at work there. You might have a yeast infection as well, which believe it or not can be more painful than herpes.

Get yourself to the doctor, honey. Not something you want to mess around with. Vaginal infections can cause huge problems.

yea they will give u something and see what else could be the problem but u need to go right away, the more u sit around the worse it going to get and salt water just dries out the sores and make them burn so do to a doctor and see what else they can do for u. there is this oatmeal stuff that u can bath in get some of that and it will feel better down there other than salt water, and try to find some spray to soothe the pain. hope it helps

My former husband suffered with Herpes thankfully with safe s*x I was never infected (We knew he had it before we got married) ... get Lysine it works to shorten the cycle.  It also may be that you are not having a Herpes outbreak at all, in all honesty it sounds more like Zoyser to me; which is a form of Herpes b ut it is not the STD.  It is the Chickenpox virus and related to Shingles.  It is very painful and Narcotic pain medications do not help because it is neurological pain.

I really feel you have been misdiagnosed, I think you should get a second opinion.

Sorry the first breakout is usually the worst one.Sounds like you have it down packed.You seem to be doing everything right.Get plenty rest take multivitamins.Stress makes it worst.Aloe vera gel with Lidocaine helps a little.

Is this your first outbreak of herpes? Remember that the first outbreak, called the "primary outbreak" is much worse than any reaccurances that you may have in the future. Also, reaccurances (if any) get much better after the first year. It would help if you post whether this is your first outbreak or what number outbreak this is. The vast majority of people stop getting outbreaks after 5 years of having the virus.

I was infected with genital herpes from a rape. I had my primary outbreak one month after the rape and I had another outbreak 10 months later.

If what you are describing is correct the out break is very sever and needs to be examined by a doctor.

If you can't afford a doctor, try a local clinic like Planned Parenthood.
