Very sick... ever heard of this?

i have a very very bad cold. I remember my great granny used to give me a shot of whiskey with honey. i remember it worked. How does this work? and does any one know the recipe?

honey i'm african american and i knooo rhis recipe cause i used to take it too when i get a cold, or throath ache, fever and what not....u have to heat a little bit of rhum(or whiskey), with lemon(juice of half a lemon) and honey(one big spoonful, it eases the throat)...it clears ur airways, soothes any pain u might have in ur throat and it tastes good so if u have a bad taste on ur mouth, it clears it away...u can also rub a little Vix on ur chest and drink Theraflu.

My mom used to do lemon juice and honey shots for me and my brother.  Then we'd chase it down w/ a teaspoon of whiskey.  I think the whiskey was just so we would sleep and the lemon/honey was for coughing.

Oh yes the honey has to be a local raw honey you can get at local health food store the whiskey I like CROWN ROYAL it is very smooth so one tea spoon and one shot thats it my grandma  i thank she was a witch doctor my parents and aunts took all of us kids to grandma and grandpa that was one and cod liver oil and caster oil and all the ice cream you could eat you have to love grand parents GOD-BLESS YOU AND HOPE YOU START FILLING BETTER.

alcohol probably numbs your body and honey relieves pain in your throat because thats what my mom did for me :)

The alcohol helps you sleep, the honey helps it go down easier!

You should also try soaking starlight mints in Wild Turkey, makes a great syrup.
