  3. Hi, the slowness of your computer could be due to various factors:

    1. Check if you hard disk is full if to either empty it or get some one to create a partition for you and move your data.

2  If already there is a virus then AVG will not remove it , it will only detect it, so its better to reinstall your comp to get rid of the virus.

    3. Try defragmenting your computer.

  4. GO TO ELECTRONIC store

    and buy more ram

  5. The best thing to do in this situation would be to wipe the whole hard drive and start a fresh, also called reformating your computer. Remember to back up all your stuff (pics, docs etc..) before you do this as they will be lost when you format.

If your using windows, pop the windows disk in the drive, restart your computer and it should ask to boot from CD, then just follow the on screen instructions. Doing this will compleatly wipe everything on the drive and install a fresh instilation of windows.

You are probably getting these problems as you have had lots of things installed on your computer that have been added and deleted over a period of time leaving bits everywhere. You may also have lots of background programs you dont want running on your computer slowing it down, it could also be spyware or a virus.

  6. For running slow there are many causes:

Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!

Open your Start menu  ->  Click Run ->  In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" ->  In the "system configuration utility", click either "service" or "startup" tab ->  Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

    De-Fragmenting

    2. Click properties.

  7. If its a prolonged state, its a best option to re-load windows after backing up ur crucial data. This porblem usually faced when some unwanted software deteriorates ur registry health....Did i mention dat virus is also a software..???......n bringing registry back to its original state is not possible even if u remove dat software/virus/trojans/malwares/spywares... its best 2 reload windows

N after dat install d following in d given order :

    1.Antivirus......                m using Avast

    2.Firewall.......                m using Zone Alarm

    3.Anti-Spy.......               m using Spybot Search n Distroy

    4.Registry Cleaner......    m using CCleaner

Above combination proves a lethal weapon against any threats.. I came to conclude this after a lot of painful nights, n now now i m chappy wid above said configuration.

n the best thing dat all above mentioned s/w's r free..Cheers

If u have any of d 4 components missing i.e Antivirus,Firewall,Antispyware n Reg cleaner..then u r always at a receiving end.U can also try all these basic components together prior to re-installing windows. This may also rectify ur prob to gr8 xtent.

    GOOD LUCK...

  8. There is good article on the following link on Slow Computer problem and its solution.Check it out.

  9. never used avg but sounds like its not solving the problem. get kaspersky you can download a free trial for 30days and its the full software that should detect the virus and get rid of it. After thats gone i would defragment your C drive and do a disk clean. Another thing to look at is your RAM as this might need an upgrade. With todays software and Flash websites i would say you need around 1gigabite of RAM for everything to run smooth.

  10. remove them

  11. Go to www.microsoft.com and do an online scan.  they scan everything and are very very thorough. If you have a virus they will direct you to tools to remove it and recover.

DO NOT do a restore until you get a virus taken care of.  You are just hiding it within the computer and not getting rid of it.

After that...do a restore...then you can defrag and do a disk scan to see if you have errors...(all in accessories) and then empty all cache or temp folders.

You might be low on RAM too.  If that is the case you need to get more RAM or delete some programs or stop them from starting up and running in the background.

I never have all those icons on the toolbar below.  I would rather take a minute to start the program when I need it rather than using my RAM working if I am not using it.  Even though I have a lot of RAM...why run them if you dont' use them all the time..?

Here is a google search for all the places that can help you or give you ideas.

ONE IDEA..and I do this....even if you don't have an HP..they  have online classes free of charge to check on your computer and what to do in certain cases...try them!  One is how to fix a slow computer and other things.

Here is the link to those classes....

  12. Your system could be slow due to various reasons. It could be due to less memory. Also it could be dues running multiple programs simultaneously. You could try disableing all startup items using msconfig. If in case it is a virus and the antivirus has no effect on it, and if you do not have any important info on the comp, then I suggest you format and reinstall the OS

  13. it is a common misconception that after time, computers get slower, and most assume its a virus. when the truth is the longer we have the computer, the more data is stored, the more programs we have running.

try cleaning out some old programs, do a disk clean, a defrag., and see if that helps

often also the RAM will be insufficient and a simple uprgrade will have you back to top notch in no time

  14. You can buy one of the better Antiviruses sometimes stores like Frys Electronics have Norton or McAfee for free after mail-in rebate

  15. if ur pc doesnt got a virus its avg thats making ur pc slow i had the same problem b4

  16. What you should do it clean your computer,if you dont know how to do that take it to a computer store and they will take any virus on your computer off for like 20 dollars....it makes it alot faster and if your computer has any other problems they will tell you and fix them...good luck.

  17. 1) delete all the unwanted softwares

    2) defragment ur windows drive

    3) if still problem continues, put new windows(dont format whole hard disk but only format windows drive otherwise ur all data will be lost)

    4) if nothing above works then ur ram is low, try buying upgrade(costs around Rs.1000-1500)

  18. First of all open up your virus scanner and quarantine the threats. Then open a window in IE and click on tools/internet options/delete/then delete all. After that process go to your desktop and click on disk cleanup( if you don't have an icon for it on your desktop)then click on start/control panel/system maintenance/administrative tools and then disk cleanup. Do a disk cleanup but make sure you read each one of the files that you are cleaning up. Do Not delete anything that has to do with your computer programs or windows files. Just want to clean up unwanted files and folders. After that follow the same as disk cleanup only this time open disk defragmenter and run a defrag on your system. Now your computer should run faster.
