Very strange question!! People of Indian descent can you help?

Question

Ok so... my parents are trying to rent out their house. My mom said to the real estate agent "We would love it if a nice Indian family would rent the house. They are so family oriented and quiet and good tenants and that would be so nice". So the estate agent said the strangest thing. She said "That will be hard because they dont like having ceiling fans above their beds and you have them in every bedroom."

We know and have known many Indian people, friends co-workers and have lived in areas with large Hindu, Tamil and Punjab populations and we have NEVER heard of this. Is the real estate agent completely off her head or is this actually something of a concern. Its something we have never heard of before...and we live in california where fans are standard in most tract homes. Anyone know what she means? Or should we write it off as some strange thing she had heard about. I tried to look it up online and couldnt find anything...

Almost every house/apartement in India has only ceiling fans to aid in air circulation. I really think your agent was trying to pull a fast one on you.

That's odd.

My background is Indian.. We've had ceiling fans in our rooms, above our beds before... They never offended us...I'm pretty sure we put them there

Theres no such thing as we dont like ceiling fans above the beds...

Hi, I am an Indian and that's really weird thing I've heard in my life till now. We have fans and AC's in our house. She is misguiding you and its absolutely wrong. And yes, Indians are family oriented and quiet, so you can be rest assured of that.

That statement by the Agent is not only strange, but also rubbish as most of the flats in India are having ceiling fans in all the rooms.

Fire the agent, this is the weirdest thing I have ever heard....Most Indian homes have ceiling fans because ACs are not affordable.

ps: BTW, 'Punjab' is the name of a state in India. Poeple who belong there are called 'Punjabis'. (similar to New York and New Yorkers).
