Veteran Campbell breathes sight of relief, to play her rookie season in 2013
Nikki Campbell of Australia putted her way through a strong field at Lalla Aicha Tour School 2013, taking the share of second position along with Emily Taylor.
Campbell posted an overall score of 341, winning the LET (Ladies European Tour) card in impressive style.  The last round witnessed her register a decisive 66, helping her steer clear of challenge.
However, Campbell could not stand her ground when she came face-to-face with Thai Ariya Jutanugarn. Jutanugarn won the tournament by shooting an overall 336, taking a five-stroke margin against both Campbell and Taylor.
The Australian star, who was one of the veterans in the field of the qualifying tournament, came on strong right from the start. She shot an explosive 66 in the first round, gaining a foothold on the course early on.
The second round, however, saw her falter a bit as she recorded a 71. But she was too quick to bounce back, slapping a 69 in the third round on Saturday.
Campbell gunned her way thought after she rattled off four straight birdies from the 5th to par-4 8th hole in the last round on Monday. On the back nine, she once again impressed the Moroccan spectators when she carded another two back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th hole.
Speaking to the media about her stunning performance in all five rounds, the Aussie golfer said that she had been seeking to prove her worth here, but this year has been the most momentous in terms of performance.
“I’ve always wanted to come and play here. I’ve been playing in Japan the last ten years and things were getting the same old,” said Campbell who will play her LET season in 2013 for the first time ever.
The veteran has been into pro golf for the last ten years, playing mostly on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) of Japan.
“Something new is pretty exciting,” Campbell said of her rookie season.
Jutanugarn pulled off an impressive show on the final day, shooting a 69 as she won the tournament by five strokes.
Emily Taylor also unveiled her best putting skills, carding a 69, 66, 68, 67 and 71 each in five rounds.
