Veteran Juli Inkster seeks to end winning drought at Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012
American Juli Inkster, who has been winless since her last victory at the Safeway International in the 2006 season, has vowed to do her best at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012, slated to be staged
from June 29 to July 1, at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers.
Inkster had been playing well until 2006, as this was the season in which she recorded her last victory. However, the American star appears to have made a solid plan for the upcoming match at the Pinnacle Country
Club this week.
Inkster has won 39 professional tournaments in her career. Having racked up 31 titles on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, the 52-year-old golfer ranks among big names in women’s golf.
In addition to proving her mettle on the LPGA Tour, the American prodigy has done well on other tours as well, grabbing 8 victories so far.
With confidence running at an all-time high, Inkster has decided to put her skills to the test once again. However, it remains to be seen how the veteran star will fare against young rivals in the roster.
Analysts said that the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship is expected to stage a tough fight among contenders, as the field is featuring formidable players like the defending champion Yani Tseng, Suzann Pettersen,
Cristie Kerr, Laura Davies, Anna Nordqvist and Stacy Lewis.
Tournament officials also seem to be thrilled about the big field, as they said that presence of top-ranked players will help attract a huge number of spectators.
Stacy Lewis and Taiwanese Tseng are being regarded as the strongest contenders for the coveted title, as they both are seeking to record victories in order to achieve their goals.
Lewis currently ranks second in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, and is desperately seeking to grab the top spot held by the Taiwanese star. Although knocking Tseng off her position will be an uphill task for
Lewis, she has shown in the recent events that she can give a tough time to any other player in the world.
Inkster may not be as strong a contender as Tseng and Lewis, she certainly has the willpower, which is usually the key to success on the course.
