Veteran QB Brandon Stokley looking forward to making Denver Broncos 53-man roster
Brandon Stokley’s career seemed over after he spent much of last season injured and at 35-years old the quarterback is in the age bracket to hang up his cleats.
However, Stokley is looking to be able to play his 14th season in the National Football League (NFL) as he takes part in training with the Denver Broncos.
Currently on the 90-man provisional roster the quarterback is trying to impress his coaches and make his case to be selected on the 53-man offseason roster before the start of training camp.
The quarterback was almost ready to retire before a meeting with his friend and current Broncos starter, Peyton Manning convinced him to try out with the Broncos.
Speaking to the Denver Post on Sunday, the veteran quarterback said that he is pushing himself and is trying to impress his coaches and show that he still has what it takes to cut it in the National Football League.
"I feel like I'm fighting for a job every day. So I just go out there and try to prove to myself that I can still make plays, every day. That's been my mentality since I was a rookie,"
Adding further he said.
"I'm enjoying it, having fun. I know I don't have another five years, 10 years left in me, so I'm enjoying this experience and this opportunity that I have."
The veteran played his last competitive season in 2010 and now is looking to make his NFL comeback with the Broncos.
With his good friend Peyton Manning helping him out it Stokley has again found his speed and form and is looking forward to becoming a part of the Denver Broncos roster.
Coach, John Fox himself has been happy with what he is seeing from Stokley and said.
"It's the Brandon Stokley I've seen on tape. He's healthy, and he's got a good skill set to play in this league, and he's proven that a lot of different places,"
The Broncos are preparing to compete for some big prizes after landing four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Peyton Manning and the franchise looks even stronger from last season this offseason.
