Veteran Woodroffe gets hold of Accolade
Prominent golf player, Jon Woodroffe, has yet again proved his worth in golf by getting hold of PGA Advanced Fellow Professional status.
The award has especially been provided to Jon for the instrumental work that he accomplished in the sport.
As the Golf Development Manager of World of Golf, it has primarily been because of his relentless efforts that people in the South East have been able to adopt golf as their passion.
Expressing his comments on receiving the award, Jon said, "The way golf has struggled has played into our hands because golf developers, owners and operators realise we now have to generate some business to get people back involved".
He further said that his prime aim is to drive people towards the sport. For this, it is important that they enjoy their first experience when playing the sport.
In case that experiment turns bitter, you might lose them forever. On the contrary, if you make it entertaining enough, there is high probability that you may get hold of them for the rest of their lives.
It is also important to mention here that this is not the first time that Jon has been awarded with this prestigious status.
His groundbreaking efforts for the development of golf as a globally acclaimed sport and its germination from grass root level has always been appreciated and recognised by the golfing community.
"Coaching at grass roots is the lifeblood of the industry. We have to realise we are in the entertainment industry and make it as fun and enjoyable, available and as accessible as possible".
Keeping in mind the phenomenal contributions he has made for golf, Jon has also been awarded with Burroughs and Laddie Lucas awards.
The Lucas Award was shared by Jon with another reputed PGA professional, Richard Morris.
Along with this, the chief organisation of World of Golf has also been accredited with the Range Mark certificate.
With the help of this certificate, large scale efforts for the development of golf in various countries can be initiated.
In order to materialise these efforts, some prominent campaigns, such as Go Free campaign, have already commenced.
The campaign caters to address the needs and difficulties faced by amateur golfers, so that they can effectively develop and master their golfing skills.
No doubt, Jon Woodroffe’s endeavours to uplift golf throughout the region are commendable. This award was just another token of appreciation for his contribution.
