Question:

Vetinary and biology students.......?

Im in year 11 now and im going to need to pic my subjects for next year. I want to be a vet or a biologist when i leave school but i was was wondering if i need to to chemistry as a subject, i hate doin chem and im only getting a 'C', do i need to or should I do chem? and what is your uni course like?

  1. To get into my veterinary course I had to do chemistry at either an average or advanced level.

    You will really struggle through the biochemistry and pharmacology aspects of the course if you can't cope with chemistry, because that's really what most of medicine is.  


  2. Chemistry is unavoidable.  However, by the looks of the career you are going to, I don't really think you require an in-depth chemistry.

    HOWEVER, I think biochemistry is one thing you should not missed.  This is important as it will provide you an insight on stuff like the energy pathway, etc.  And that is very important. :)

  3. As someone else said, chemistry can't be avoided. My freshman year of college, I can't even tell you how many people dropped the biology program just because the chemistry was so hard.

    Biochemistry can also be tough, but a lot of students who hate chemistry (like me) wind up enjoying the biochemical aspect of things.
