Vettel disappointed in Monaco
The bullet-fast driver from Germany is quite relieved to be running for this years’ Formula one title. He has strong faith in his driving skills despite the fact that he has not been able to have a perfect start to the season. Vettel lapped the fastest time in his last four races in the last season. Furthermore, he attained the pole position thrice, but ironically he has just one win to his name in the current season which came when he started in the third position of the starting grid.
Earlier in the year, the Bahrain Grand Prix looked all-set to be going Vettel’s way but a spark plug problem cut short his joy as he ended up finishing in the fourth place. Vettel was leading the pack in Bahrain when luck ran out on him. The Australian Gran Prix was no different either as a wheel problem jammed his winning run right there and then.
After getting over the technical glitches to win the Malaysian Grand Prix, the German driver was part of some chaotic scenes in China once again as he finished on the sixth position after starting from the pole position. Later on in Barcelona, he encountered a completely different problem. However, Hamilton’s misfortunes at the track helped Vettel secure the 3rd spot.
After Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, Vettel is lagging behind by 10 points against World Champion and current leader Jenson Button. Theoretically, Vettel should be miles ahead on the standings; the driver has refused to let technical problems hamper his morale. The German is certain that with 13 races to go, including Sunday’s Monaco GP, he has enough time to claim his first World Championship.
The Red Bull driver believes that pondering over the past can bring no good. He finished the practice sessions at Monaco with the third fastest time for the track, only 0.195 seconds behind Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. Vettel said "Look at Barcelona where the key was to get maximum points, and I finished third which was not a disaster. It could have been much worse. "So it's good we're not massively behind, unlike last year when we had a worse start to the season.
"Ten points sounds a lot, but we have a new points system as well, so it's really not that much. As always, the most important thing is to finish the race. Jenson has won two races till now, ending at the 5th and 6th spots in the remaining races.
Button has shown how imperative it is to finish every single Grand Prix.
Sebastian is confident that his team has come up with the solutions for the problems that his car was facing. Despite the short time span between the two races, the driver is sure that there will be no more issues with the car.
Even though Red Bull's competitors head into the weekend hoping that the Bulls will not have the same level of dominance. However, practice suggested that the Red Bull team has a car for every track.
If speeds are compared, Webber and Vettel were well above the others. It will be interesting to wait and watch if the track at Monaco will churn out some big surprises.
