Vettel rightly deserved the win - Juan Pablo Montoya
Since the Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel has become the world champion he is being praised by everyone, every now and then. However, Juan Pablo Montoya, the former Formula One driver who is now running with NASCAR, believes that he kept doing things wrong
all through the year but was still lucky to get his hands on the first championship of his career. Montoya believes that his great driving skills and a superfast car helped him get the title despite the mistakes and mishaps he encountered.
The German driver, this November, became the youngest World Champion ever in the sports’ history as he bagged the fifth victory of the season at the season’s last race, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The 2010 season had been a very tough one. Until the final
few races, the tug between the top five drivers and the front running three teams stayed tight and tough. All the drivers as well as the teams kept fighting really hard, while tension and stress kept mounting. Due to the tough competition and immense rivalry,
almost all the drivers were seen making terrible mistakes on the track including Vettel.
The worst of all his races was the Belgian Grand Prix, where the driver made several poor moves and one of it pushed the McLaren driver, Jenson Button off the track. Although Vettel was criticised by the entire media and analysts but worst of all condemnations
were received by the angry McLaren team boss, Martin Whitmarsh. He announced that the driver is still very immature for Formula One and must compete in some junior Formulae, until he is prepared for the highest ranking series of the world.
Moreover, there have been several instances all through the season when the 23-year-old went unlucky and kept on meeting mishaps. The plug failure at the first race of the season, the Bahrain Grand Prix, and then an engine problem later at the Australian
race where he had to retire were a few of bad race weekends. The worst of all was the Korean round, when his car stopped only a few laps away from a certain victory.
Recalling all these instances Montoya said, "He's got talent even though he did everything possible not to win it. He and his team made many mistakes that made it very complicated for them, but I think the fastest driver and car won."
