Vettel talks about Rival team, McLaren for Canadian GP
The last two weeks had been real tough for Red Bull. They had undergone a lot of high and low times during and after the May’s Turkish Grand Prix. The crash at the Istanbul Track caused a lot of tension between the two drivers. It was further mounted by lots of gossip regarding the team being biased by putting the entire blame on Mark Webber. However, the issue was finally settled as the two drivers embraced each other outside the Red Bull Headquarters in Milton on Thursday, last week. Now, as the team heads toward the Canadian Grand Prix, all issues have been finally settled for good. The team had been wise enough to settle all their differences before they move ahead. They know that the upcoming race will be a tough test, as all eyes are fastened at the performance of the Red Bull Vs the McLaren team.
The Circuit of Montreal is famous for its slow corners and long straights, which analysts believe, would certainly serve as a benefit for McLaren that has the F-Duct equipped MP4-25 cars. Nevertheless, the Red Bull have their own reasons to be happy and satisfied with their RB6 which has always proved to match or even exceed the pace of any other car on the track. The previously dominant team believes that they have more than enough performance in reserve and that they need not worry in regards to the absence of high-speed corners, in which their cars have proved special swiftness previously this season.
The German driver also commented on the official website of Red Bull that the track is brilliant and that he had always liked it. He said that theoretically many analysts might consider that this track is not the best for the RB6, but he thinks that the car had been very competitive at all the races this year. He told that this makes the team very confident and proud, as they move towards the next grand Prix. Altogether, he hopes to deliver their best in Montreal.
McLaren’s car possesses the F-duct system, which had been the talk of the town lately and also, it fascinates the drivers and the fans equally. The F-duct system stalls the rear wing of the car when it is at speed, this results in reducing drag which could be especially beneficial in Montreal. Red Bull examined their own version during their practice in Turkey, but they did not get the results that they expected and it is hoped that the team would not use the same system in Canada.
Moreover, he accepted the fact that the McLarens are hoped to be very strong in the Canadian Grand Prix as the German team is entering with great spirit and confidence despite the controversies and gossips that had infiltrated the team after the dramatic Turkish Grand Prix. Also, Vettel admits that the F-duct system would help the team immensely. Yet he was sure that all these things would have no affect at the Red Bull’s performance and they would prove themselves to be the best once again.
Red Bull is somehow the real threat to all the teams. They stand as one of the strongest teams, having scored seven successive pole positions. They had been successful to bag three race wins so far in 2010. Whereas, the other team member of Red Bull, Mark Webber, stands with the highest points in the drivers’ Championship so far with a total ninety three points. Vettel, after his retirement from the last race is down at the fifth position, 15 points less than that of his team mate. Whereas, the Constructor’s Championship, McLaren stands at the top with one hundred and seventy two points while Red Bull is following them with being shy of only one point.
