Vettel’s star status does not affect Mark Webber
Red Bull driver Mark Webber was wiped off from his championship lead after he retired at the dramatic Korean Grand Prix and enabled his rival Fernando Alonso to snatch the championship lead from him as Fernando won the race to score the most points.
Mark Webber has not been as aggressive as his teammate Sebastian Vettel, as he seems more determined to win the title. However, Mark Webber still insists that he has the momentum and pace to achieve the grand prize and he does not care about the ‘superstar’
status his teammate Sebastian Vettel has achieved.
Mark Webber is currently 11 points short of the championship leader Fernando Alonso and it seems that since Fernando Ferrari is running well as compared to the Red Bulls and McLarens. Striking the Spaniard off from his championship with just 2 races left
is not going to be an easy task for Red Bull or McLaren.
Keeping in mind Webber is currently 34 years old and his team boss publically admitted that Red Bull is currently building the team around Vettel since he is young and Webber does not have much time in the sport as compared to his teammate.
“It doesn't bother me at all. I am 34 years old and I think it's great that I'm still at the top level and as competitive as I am,” Webber told an Italian magazine.
Mark Webber has been doing the job consistently since the past couple of races and he should have played safe at the Korean grand prix. However, one cannot blame Mark for his accident as the conditions were extremely unpredictable and there was nothing
he could do about it.
“If I was ten years younger and was getting the same results, I'm sure you'd all think I'm the superstar. I think the only difference is that Vettel is young. I don't really see him working any differently than, say, Heikki (Kovalainen) at Lotus,” he added.
Vettel has proved what Heikki Kovalainen was not able to prove during his 2 years period with McLaren. And secondly, Sebastian Vettel has been the best driver when it comes to qualifying this season and that shows that Sebastian is the fastest driver on
track.
“I think the best way to judge someone is to consider the consistency of their results,” said the Australian.
Webber is currently 14 points ahead of his teammate but the title is still undecided for. Both of the Red bull drivers will have to work together consistently if they want to win the championship.
