Vettori, Mills and du Plessis fined for altercation during quarter-final - ICC World Cup 2011
International Cricket Council slapped New Zealand Captain Daniel Vettori, fast bowler Kyle http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Francois-du-Plessis-c57310 with a heavy fine for being involved in a spat during the third quarter-final game of the ICC World Cup 2011.
The ICC issued a statement declaring all three players guilty for violating the ICC Code of Conduct following a confrontation in the crucial second round match between South African and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in Dhaka on Friday.
"Mills has been fined 60 per cent of his match fee for breaching Article 2.2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct which is a Level 2 offence relating to `inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players`," the ICC statement said. “Mills has also been
fined a further 60 per cent of his fee for violating Article 2.2.11 of the code which relates to conduct that is "contrary to the spirit of the game," the statement added.
The Black Caps skipper Daniel Vettori has been imposed a fine of 90 per cent of his match fee for bringing the game into disrepute whereas du Plessis got a penalty of 50 percent of match fee for using abusive language against Kiwis’ players.
The unpleasant incident took place at the end of 28th over of the match when du Plessis and New Zealand players exchanged some hard words against each other. Kyle Mills, who was not playing in this match, came to the field with drinks and joined
his team-mates to heat up the situation.
The match-referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the sanctions after charges laid by field umpires Aleem Dar and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tucker-c94458.
"There is never any excuse for deliberate physical contact in international cricket," said Mahanama. “In determining the punishment I have taken into consideration the fact that none of these players has previously been involved in similar breaches of the
