The tourists, after winning the toss of decider, failed to capitalise on it as the side lost seven wickets on the first day of the Nagpur Test and could amass only 193 runs, which according to Vettori, put his team under a lot of pressure.
Vettori, disappointed by his side’s batting performance, praised the way opposition blazed away with the bat.
“Dhoni and Dravid played exceptionally well. There were lots of niggles for us but I think
India showed us how to bat, especially in this Test,” said the Kiwis’ captain at the end of Nagpur Test.
After drawing the first two Tests of the three-match series, held in Ahmedabad and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 came up as a formidable team winning the final Test by an innings and 198 runs.
“There was a period where India bowled well but once you get through the new (hard) ball, it's a wicket where you can bat on for a long time,” added the visiting captain.
The 31-year-old all-rounder however did not agree that an additional spin bowler could have affected the match results and said that they lost because of a poor first innings performance.
The left-arm orthodox bowler, who made his Test debut in February 1997 against England, also maintained his stance on the controversial Umpire Decision Review System and called the referral system good for the game as well as the teams.
Talking about the positives that have come from the lost series, Vettori said, Tim McIntosh, Jesse Ryder, Kane Williamson and Brendon McCullum emerged as an exciting group of batsmen.
The New Zealand captain, who plays for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in the lucrative Indian Premier League, also confirmed Jesse Ryder’s return to home after the left hander aggravated the calf strain which he picked up during the Hyderabad Test.
Both the outfits would face off in the five-match one-day series which begins in Guwahati from 28 November.
