by opener Chris Gayle’s sickness, minutes before the match, to secure their fourth win of the season.
Riding on blistering half centuries by Dilshan (76 not out off 58) and AB de Villiers(59 not out off 23), the tourists posted an intimidating total of 189 for 3 before a clinical bowling performance from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Appanna-c1805 restricted Rajasthan’s
in-form batting line-up, featuring the likes of Orange Cap-holder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/OA-Shah-c2134, to 143 for 7 to help the side seal a 46-run win. Dismissing the hosts’ top order, Appanna returned with startling figures of 4 for 19 from 4 overs.
Calling the 46-run win over Royals as a great team effort, the New Zealander singled out little known spinner, Appanna, for praise.
"I am really happy with Appanna’s performance," said Vettori, who himself was outstanding with the ball, conceding just 20 runs in his spell of four overs.
“He made a comeback into the side after a long time… Today he showed how good he could be when in form. It was a fantastic effort on this sort of wicket,” he added further.
Asked to pick a favourite for the title, the New Zealander said that the tournament is quite open at this stage and every team still has a chance to make the tournament’s playoffs.
With four wins in seven outings, RCB still find themselves in the lower half of the IPL5 standings.
