Vettori lauds Gayle’s contribution in RCB’s victories
Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper, Daniel Vettori, has appreciated the West Indies batsman, Chris Gayle’s significant role in his side’s five marvellous victories.
Gayle, who joined the IPL race in the midst of the tournament, on May 6, has achieved excellent averages and empowered Bangalore’s batting line-up.
Bangalore is going to take on Rajasthan Royals today, May 11, in the 55th game of the tournament.
Talking to the media, Vettori said, “We had started badly, losing three opening games but with Gayle coming in and his opening partnerships with (Tillkaratne) Dilshan, we have been able to put pressure on the opposition.” He further elaborated, “Gayle has
been in tremendous form and has bowled well too.”
Starting with a stunning ton off just 49 balls including 10 fours and 9 sixes, Gayle has the second highest average in this tournament so far. He has scored 328 runs in five games with an average of 82.
Gayle is the only IPL player of this tournament to have two centuries. He is also the 8th highest scorer of this edition.
Vettori thinks that Gayle has changed the fortune of RBC. Before Gayle’s arrival, the team was in tatters. Gayle brought a victory in his very first game.
Having dismissed from his national side for a home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board (WICB).
The RCB are ranked 4th on the points table with four games of the first round left.
Vettori said, “With four games remaining, three victories can push us to top two. The current form is satisfying but we need to improve on our fielding.”
Gayle is padded up for big hits in today’s game. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 skipper, Shane Warne, will be vigilant against Gayle’s ruinous batting.
