Vettori pleased with his team’s performance
Daniel Vettori, the captain of the New Zealand Cricket team, is pleased with his team's performance in the first One Day International (ODI) match against Pakistan in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864.
The home side completely dominated the match, crushing Pakistan by a convincing margin of nine wickets.
Tim Southee devastated the Pakistani top order, picking up brilliant figures of 5 for 33 in nine incisive overs. His brilliant spell enabled his team to bundle the opposition out for a grim score of 124 in 38 overs.
Hamish Bennett, who was playing only his third ODI, impressed everyone with his pace and bounce, registering excellent figures of 3 for 26 in his eight overs.
Vettori said, "It was a really good start to the series. The swing at the start, particularly from Tim, was the real key. We put the Pakistani guys under a lot of pressure and we never really let up, so it was a great start for us".
In pursuit of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s 125-run total, the New Zealand batsmen went ballistic and hammered the Pakistan bowling attack to all corners of the ground, chasing down the target in just 17.2 overs.
Jessie Ryder and Martin Guptill played aggressively and put up a superb 84-run partnership in order to put the opposition under pressure.
Furthermore, Ryder was the star of the show for the home team, as he mustered a scintillating half century, while Guptill was a perfect foil for his partner, as he remained unbeaten in his 40-run innings.
The New Zealand skipper mentioned, “We were able to create pressure and hold onto that pressure for a long time. No bowler who came into the attack ever let it up. Particularly from that top end, I could keep attacking with Tim Southee and Hamish Bennett
and we just kept getting wickets so it made it easy”.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 all-rounder also gave credit to the Westpac track. He said that the wicket was helping the seam bowlers, and it had just enough in it to keep the seamers interested.
In the morning, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, who scored a fifty, every other willower failed to contribute substantially.
He said, “Most of the bowlers enjoyed bowling on this wicket. To be honest we thought it was going to be a bit flatter than that but it just had enough in it. Sometimes the wickets that just have a little bit in it are the hardest to play on".
The Black Caps are leading the series by a margin of 1-0 with five more games to play. The fans of both the cricketing communities wait eagerly for the second encounter on 26th of January.
