Question:

Vetus Bilge Water Oil / Water Filter to UK BSS standards?

Looking at installing a Vetus oil / water separator in my bilge pump line to comply with BSS certification, rather than sticking the wife's washing up bowl under the sump.

Has anyone installed a Vetus filter in order to comply with the BSS Certificate and did it pass muster?

Can't seem to find the specs in Parts Per Million for this filter, as laid down by the BSS specification.

If not, does anyone know of one which is to specification, where to purchase and how much?

Installation conditions:

Bayliner 192, bilge pump capacity 500gph, oil absorbing mats lining bilge, no oil leaks, do not wish to fit catchment tray to comply with BSS cert. First BSS inspection imminent.

  1. Maybe phone your local examiner and ask if they approve ? If they do, you should use them for the inspection when its due.

Most don't mind the occassional call for advice.
