VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN regrets the crucial loss of semi-finals at Bundesliga – Volleyball news
The German men’s volleyball club VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN fell victim to hard-hitting of Berlin and dropped the semi-final this past Sunday.
The loss of important match pushed VfB behind and the team dropped its chances of playing in the finals of the Playoffs. It happened for the first time in last eight years as FRIEDRICHSHAFEN previously held the top slot for consecutive seven years.
Team Berlin defeated VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN and clawed its way to the finals of German Bundesliga. On the other hand, Generali UNTERHACHING joined Berlin in the final showdown after winning the second semi-final.
The semi-final stage of the Bundesliga featured a series of matches. In the first place, FRIEDRICHSHAFEN pulled off 3-1 success in the duel but failed to carry the momentum into next three matches. They received three consecutive defeats and put up with
some serious damage.
More than seven thousand volleyball enthusiasts had come to watch the semi-finals. However, most of the fans were disappointed with VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN’s performance. The skipper of the team, Joao José was evidently unhappy about the way things turned out
in the end.
In his opinion, the opponents did not do anything out of ordinary but it was quite an average performance. Nonetheless, VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN could not manage to react in a simple way and lost the match. Furthermore, the middle blocker Marcus Böhme shared
his views in the following manner.
He stated “I cannot realize that we are really out of the competition. I am not sure if we tried everything we should during these semi-finals. Maybe we could have showed more. Sometimes we certainly could have played better.”
Meanwhile, the head coach of FRIEDRICHSHAFEN Stelian Moculescu commented, “The season has finished – so early as almost never before. Now we are drawing very much attention from the media as well as from the public. If we had won again, it would not have
been interesting news for anybody.”
The VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN already qualified for the 2013 CEV Volleyball Cup and now all the focus will turned on the upcoming tournament. This time FRIEDRICHSHAFEN has been content with third position in the Bundesliga.
