VfB Stuttgart manager Bruno Labbadia is anticipating an improved season from last term and is hopeful that the team will not disappoint the fans this time. He claimed that the preparations for the new season have been good and
the players are determined to perform in the upcoming campaign.
Die Roten ended the season in 12th place on the Bundesliga standings table and were fortunate to avoid relegation. The Reds secured 42 points and won 12 of the 34 games played, losing a staggering 16 times.
Labbadia insisted that his side is willing to improve and it shows in the pre-season performances. Stuttgart have already won the first round clash of the DFB-Pokal against SV Wehen Wiesbaden 2-1 and have progressed to the next
round.
The manager also stressed on the importance of fan support and claimed that the team will surely need the fans to support the team throughout the season to encourage the team and make sure they perform well.
“We want to improve! We want the team to give people the feeling that they do everything - without waking again incredibly with high expectations. We want to bring the people, not just on Saturday, but also in the coming weeks
and months,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Hamburg SV manager admitted that the fans are disappointed considering the team’s showing in the previous campaign. He insisted that the Stuttgart faithful are not excited about the next season as they have very less
expectations. The tactician wants to change this and wants to show a massive improvement in the upcoming term.
“I found that our supporters have taken the toll in the second half. I miss something in the moment, the anticipation for the new season. I hope the people that they come to the stadium. I want that we are grateful that we continue
to play in the Bundesliga,” he concluded.
Die Roten will start their Bundesliga campaign against current DFB-Pokal champions Schalke 04 on Saturday, August 6, at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
